God's harvest is now

Gpd's harevest is now!

During our Sunday Corporate Worship Service we usually sing many familiar hymns. But how seriously do we mean it when we sing, “All to Jesus, I surrender”, “Take my life and let it be….not a mite would I withhold” and “Just a closer walk with Thee…?” The familiar phrases in these hymns, the religious tones and the emotionally loaded words do have their superficial and temporary effect. But are the worshippers really closer to God, better off morally and do they have a deep trust in their walk with Jesus? We might very well make off-the-cuff makeshift comments without serious contemplation. We can dutifully repeat the same worship routine which might lose its significance with our time bounded traditions.

Do we see the things that God wants us to see? There may be things right in front of our eyes that we don’t perceive as being from God. But God is at work and Jesus said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” Do not wait as now is the time to reap with the harvest all around us. People desperately need the Lord and many are ready, if only we would look around us with our eyes opened by the Holy Spirit.

First, the time to gather in the harvest is now. The disciples had only been with Jesus a short time. But they have known about soul winning already because Jesus told them immediately when He first called them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19). Don’t wait four months for the harvest – “Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see how the fields are already white for harvest” (John 4:35). Second, there are plenty of lost souls to be harvested. The harvest truly is plenteous – “Let us not become weary in doing good for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). Third, the labourers are few. The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few. “Ask the Lord of the harvest therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field” (Matthew 9:38).

Thank God for faithful labourers in God’s harvest field in BKC. Sadly, not everyone have enough zeal to win lost souls in God’s harvest field. Have you shared the Gospel of Jesus with a non-believer recently? Have you brought a friend to Church to find out more about the Christian faith? Have you discipled a new Christian recently in follow-up ministry? The prophet Jeremiah said, “The harvest is past, the summer has ended, and we are not saved” (Jeremiah 8:20). Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for our sins, rose from the dead and is now seated in heaven beside the Father, yet many around us “are still not saved.” Let us all commit in our prayers and actions to bring in God’s harvest now for His glory – “All to Jesus I surrender, all to Him I freely give”!
